Collection of Information
On our main site we collect personally identifiable information, like names, postal addresses, email addresses, etc., when voluntarily submitted by our visitors. Personally identifiable information about children under the age of 13 can only be submitted to True Progress by a parent or guardian of the child, or by a school staff member if the staff member has been authorized by a parent or guardian to submit such personally identifiable information. We do not solicit or knowingly collect personally identifiable information directly from children under the age of 13; if you are under the age of 13, do not provide us any information about yourself.
We also collect personal information when a school or district creates accounts for administrators, teachers, and students. We only collect information that is relevant and not excessive for the purposes for which it is to be processed. Personal information includes information that can identify you. For teachers this includes full name, e-mail address, and school name. For students, this includes full name, user ID, and school name. Additional optional demographic data may be entered for students by school or district staff that may include gender, birth date, ethnicity, special education, instructional language, participation in free lunch programs, Title 1 status or other demographic variables created by the school or district.
Student accounts are typically created by teachers or school administrators. COPPA states that teachers may act in place of a parent in deciding whether to give consent. By creating the student account on the Track My Progress website, staff members are providing consent for True Progress to store personal data about those students. Students and parents do not have access to the administrative component of the Track My Progress assessment system where student accounts are created.
Personal information about children can only be entered by school personnel or by True Progress personnel acting on their behalf. There is no way for children using Track My Progress to enter or store personal information on our website. Track My Progress collects and stores data created by student use of the Track My Progress assessment which is linked to each student’s personal information. This personal information is required for student participation so that school staff members can view assessment data.
Parents and legal guardians can request to see the personally identifiable information that we have collected about their children. Parents and legal guardians may also ask to have that information deleted, and can inform us that they do not consent to any further collection or use of their child’s personally identifiable information.
Personally identifiable information that we collect and identify with you is used to fulfill specific requests that you make, unless you give us permission to use it in another manner, for example to add you to one of our mailing lists. We may also use your personally identifiable information to assist in the prevention and investigation of fraudulent and criminal activity. We do not use your personally identifiable information in any other manner.
On our secure Track My Progress site, we collect and maintain data that is needed in order to use True Progress software. Whenever you use the secure Track My Progress website or applications, all data transactions are made using secure socket layers, the best protection that we have available for protecting your information.
True Progress only partners with established and reputable host providers. Our servers may be hosted at several locations in the U.S.A. to ensure a consistent and reliable user experience. With each new location, we require that our vendors share our commitment to data protection and security.
